From the chronicle of Saint Nicaise at Melun, Count Galeran II (1118-1166) swore in 1142, that if he returned from the crusade he would pay for work on seventeen churches. With his wife he only began in 1156. See John James and Stephen Gardner, "The Work of Count Galeran", Avista Forum, x (1996-7), pp. 9-10, for an assessment of which churches were involved.
